Dairy-Free Cherry Almond Hot Chocolate

Made with creamy almond milk and without refined sugar, this superior sip beautifully blends deep chocolate flavor with the sweetness of cherry juice and the nutty aroma of almond extract. Top this cozy vegan drink with coconut whipped cream, sliced almonds and fresh cherries for a spectacularly special indulgence.
Dairy-Free Cherry Almond Hot Chocolate
- 2 cups unsweetened almond milk (or plant-based milk of choice)
- 1/4 cup dairy-free dark chocolate chips
- 2 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 Tbsp. cherry juice
- 1-2 Tbsp. maple syrup (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- Pinch Celtic sea salt
Optional toppings
- Vegan whipped cream
- Sliced almonds
- Fresh cherries
- In medium saucepan over medium heat, warm almond milk, whisking often, until it begins to steam. (Note: Don’t let it boil.)
- To saucepan, add dark chocolate chips and whisk with milk until melted and smooth.
- Add cocoa powder, cherry juice, maple syrup, almond extract and salt. Whisk until everything is fully combined. Taste hot chocolate and adjust sweetness or cherry flavor, as needed.
- Pour into two mugs and top with whipped cream, sliced almonds and/or fresh cherries, as desired.
