Keep Your Evening Skincare Routine But Change Your Skincare

Routines don’t have to be so routine. You can make a few smart swaps and still maintain the same general flow. If you’ve ever tried to lose weight or followed a fitness plan, you know that changing up things every now and then is actually beneficial to making progress. Well, the same goes for your skincare!

Keep your skin on its toes to get the best out of it, and use the changing seasons as a good excuse for resetting your routine. I follow the same basic evening skincare ritual, which you can check out here, all year long. But when warmer weather comes, I simply sub in a lighter-weight moisturizer. Or when my skin is looking a little lackluster, I add a revitalizing mask to the mix.

Here are a few of the products I’m using right now. If you’re looking for a change – and better skin – let these skincare essentials serve as inspiration.

Evening skincare must-haves:

An oil-based makeup remover that moisturizes while cleaning – In the past, I’ve used coconut oil, which works really well. Lately, though, I’ve been enjoying an even deeper sweep with Cosmedix Purity Solution Nourishing Deep Cleansing Oil.

A nutrient-rich facial cleanser to get the remaining grime – You’ll want pure, natural ingredients that provide omegas, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Sibu Beauty Sea Buckthorn Balancing Facial Cleanser is a great all-natural option that keeps my sensitive skin clear.

A revitalizing mask to exfoliate and bring skin new life – Look for a clean formula, meaning without parabens, sulfates or any of that extra junk. And since masks are an intense form of clearing out impurities, you only need to “interrupt” your nightly routine once or twice a week with this step.

A toner that balances skin instead of drying it outDerma e Purifying Toner Mist is pH balanced, features aloe leaf juice and replenishes skin with minerals and antioxidants. Simply spritz and swipe with a cotton ball.

A luxurious-feeling serum – Treat your skin to a potent, effective, skin-smoothing serum formula. Come morning, you’ll be amazed at the difference!

Anti-aging solutions that fill in fine lines and brighten dark spots – Thanks to premature fine lines, Andalou Naturals Deep Wrinkle Dermal Filler is my nightly pick. Also, since I have deep-set eyes, I’m prone to dark circles. A pine-extract-infused eye cream helps brighten that darkness and reduce any puffiness.

A light-weight moisturizer that doesn’t leave skin looking oily – Gel-like textures are ideal for summer months, but I do switch moisturizers the most. Look for vitamin-enriched hydrators to help improve the appearance of your skin while you’re sound asleep.
