Cucumbers are in season and plentiful this time of year. Besides being a great addition to summer salads, these versatile veggies are the perfect addition to your skincare routine. They’re naturally soothing skin and help with pH balance. They can also smooth fine lines, reduce redness and soften skin without harsh chemicals. Get out to the garden and use some of your harvest in this simple, three-ingredient toner recipe. Keep it in the fridge for an extra-cooling treat for your skin on a hot day!

Yields: ½ cup

Thayers Witch Hazel Aloe Vera Formula Unscented | Vitacost.com/blogIngredients

1 small organic cucumber, with peel
¼ cup unscented aloe vera witch hazel
¼ cup distilled or purified water

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients together in a food processor or blender.
  2. Strain mixture into bowl through a nut milk bag, fine mesh strainer or a cheesecloth to remove any excess fibers from the cucumber.
  3. Using strainer, pour toner into a reusable glass container or a clean, reusable toner bottle.
  4. Keep toner in the fridge for a few weeks and apply to clean face with natural cotton pads in the morning and evening.
