Hooray! The time for outside play is here. The barbeque is fired up, you’ve layered on some SPF, turned up a killer playlist and now you’re finally ready for some fresh, al fresco relaxation. You go to lay on your cushioned lounge chair and… it’s a hot mess. We know, it’s been a while since you’ve given your patio furniture a wipe down.\

Chances are, your outdoor cushions have suffered from some major wear and tear. Whether they accumulated more dirt than you’re comfortable with or acquired a funky stench, this DIY freshening powder, made from lemon and tea tree essential oils, is sure to clean things up.

1/2 cup baking soda
36 drops lemon essential oil
36 drops tea tree essential oil
4-oz. amber glass wide-mouth jar

Directions

  1. In mixing bowl, add baking soda.
    2. Drop in essential oils and mix until damp powder forms. Transfer to jar.
    3. To use, sprinkle powder on fabrics or cushions and let sit for 10 minutes, then vacuum.
