You’ve already green cleaned your garage, deodorized your carpet and organized your medicine cabinet, but when is the last time your oven had a good scrub down? Occasionally scrapping off the dried bits might leave it looking tidy enough, but even the most spotless ovens could use a deep cleaning every few months. Made with just three natural ingredients, this DIY cleaner removes buildup, grease and odor – all without having to turn your oven on. Skip the stinky “self-clean” setting and get the shining oven you deserve.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. While oven is off, remove oven racks and anything else that may be housed in your oven (such as pizza stones or thermometers).
  2. In bowl with baking soda, add water a tablespoon at a time until a spreadable, paste-like texture has been achieved.
  3. Put on gloves; spread paste over all the surfaces of your oven (except any bare metal or heating elements). The paste may turn brown as you spread it around.
  4. Let sit in oven overnight, or at least 12 hours.
  5. Using damp cloth or spatula, remove baking soda paste. If there are any lingering spots, spray vinegar on them to help remove the paste.
